Rhythm Spark: African Diasporic Drum, Dance and Visual Arts Festival is a community celebration of the interconnectedness of African Culture across the globe. Produced by The Ayinde Collective, Rhythm Spark is ultimately a culminating event of a year-long Rites of Passage program and model for integrating the arts into the fabric of the South Orange and Maplewood communities. This Inaugural festival will celebrate African Diasporic tradition by offering African Drumming and Dance workshops, as well as a curated Visual Arts exhibition showcasing local, national and International artists. This event will also include a vendor marketplace, artist exhibition & talk back, guest lectures, Kemetic Yoga classes, Health Symposium, Financial Empowerment Seminar, film screening and a Children's village. To end this Journey of Cultural Artistic Expression we will host a ticketed concert featuring a collective collaboration of premiere and world renowned native, national and local dance, drum and music artists, groups and storytellers. This years focus will be centered on the exploration of the culture of New Orleans, Cuba and Senegal, featuring artists from each part of these communities. This cultural arts destination festival is set to be an exceptionally high-spirited, family friendly, multicultural arts and educational event for the entire community.
