MAPLEWOOD, NJ - The Township of Maplewood is proud to unveil its permanent rainbow striped crosswalks on Valley St (a county road) and Oakview Rd. No town in NJ has ever done so on a county road and few towns or cities around the world have done so permanently. All four crosswalks on Valley and Oakview are being striped throughout the day on Wednesday. This permanent symbol celebrates and honors our great diversity and inclusion, and it marks Maplewood yet again as one of the most welcoming and progressive communities throughout New Jersey. The unveiling and dedication of the rainbow crosswalks are part of Maplewood and South Orange’s month long celebrations of Pride throughout June, “SOMA Celebrates Pride.”
WHERE: Maplewood Town Hall, 574 Valley Street, Maplewood, NJ 07040. Speakers on the steps of Town Hall, rainbow sherbet, face painting, balloons, DJ/dancing, and other family fun on the lawn. Rainbow ribbon cutting approximately at 7:00 pm
