MAC Mic: Weekly Comedy Open Mic
The Maplewood Division of Arts & Culture invites comedians and comedy lovers to MAC Mic, a free weekly comedy open mic where performers can test new material, sharpen their craft, and connect with the local comedy community.
MAC Mic is one of the first programs launched through the 2026 Request for Proposals (RFP) for the 1978 Maplewood Arts Center. Earlier this year, the Township sought creative proposals to activate the Arts Center with innovative, community-driven programming that celebrates artistic expression and expands cultural opportunities for residents. Selected through that initiative, MAC Mic transforms the Arts Center into a welcoming gathering place for local comedians, emerging performers, and audiences.
Hosted by Maplewood comedians Maribeth Theroux, Shannon Moffett, and Sibo, MAC Mic welcomes performers of all experience levels—from first-timers to seasoned comics.
When: Every Thursday

MAC Mic Guidelines
To ensure a respectful and enjoyable experience for everyone, please observe the following:
No alcohol, smoking, or vaping on the premises.
No recording, photography, or live-streaming during performances. (Performers may record or photograph their own set only.)
Please arrive on time and remain for the duration of the mic to support fellow performers.
All ages are welcome.
About the Comedy
MAC Mic is a space for comedians to experiment, take creative risks, and develop new material. Comedy often explores difficult subjects, includes strong language, and challenges perspectives. Audience members should expect content that may be provocative, unfiltered, or uncomfortable at times.
Likewise, performers are encouraged to explore and refine their material in good faith, understanding that comedy is an evolving art form and that respectful experimentation is part of the creative process.
Community Standards
While comedy often pushes boundaries, we ask all participants to keep these principles in mind:
Personal attacks directed at individuals in the room are not appropriate. This is an open mic, not a roast.
Strong language is common in comedy; however, excessive profanity, hate speech, or repeated use of slurs—even when self-referential—is discouraged.
Treat fellow performers, audience members, volunteers, and staff with respect, and help create an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome to participate.
