With advances in communication technology, we are made immediately aware of worldwide events, all the time. Discrimination, gun violence, immigration, the environment, politics, sexism and more are now a part of everyday dialog. We have instant connections to events in ways that we never had before the availability of the smart phone, social media, and high speed wireless networks.
Our anxiety levels are elevated, being constantly bombarded by events that haunt us about the state of the world. The artists in this exhibit have heard and felt the impact of these stories and creatively responded, each in their own way.
The exhibit features work from artists Kate Albright, Susanna Baker, Donna Bassin, Amy Becker, Yvette Lucas, Onnie Strother, and Philemona Williamson. The exhibit will be on display from October 27th-December 2 with a reception on November 4th from 3-5pm.
