interACT Theatre Productions and The Maplewood Division of Arts & Culture Present a Dark & Thrilling Tale: Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde
Maplewood, NJ – September 2025 — interACT Theatre Productions is proud to open its 2025–2026 season with Jeffrey Hatcher’s gripping adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic novella, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Performances will run October 10–25, 2025 at The Burgdorff Center for the Performing Arts in Maplewood, NJ.
Directed by Nicholas J. Clarey and produced by Serena Marie Smith & Erica Vieira, this chilling retelling offers a shocking new perspective on Stevenson’s timeless story of duality, depravity, and desire. Hatcher’s script explores the many faces of Edward Hyde—portrayed by multiple actors—while illuminating the psychological terror and moral struggles within Dr. Henry Jekyll himself.
Audiences will be transported to the fog-bound streets of Victorian London, where Jekyll’s experiments unleash a sensual, violent alter-ego. As Hyde’s appetite for destruction grows, Jekyll races to end his deadly game of cat-and-mouse before his darker self consumes him entirely.
