Arts Council introduces Maplewood Black Lives Matter Poetry Project

The Maplewood Arts Council is proud to present Maplewood Black Lives Matter Poetry Project, slated for installation in September, 2020.

Language gives voice; the goal of our project is to infuse the landscape of our community with the voices of Black poets. It is our hope that residents can inhabit these ideas, spark conversations, and identify strongly with themes of what it means to be free as we work against systemic racism, and police brutality.

We are working to create 20-25 large banners which will be placed throughout Maplewood. Poets represented will include 19th century slaves, modern poet laureates, civil rights leaders, and local children and teachers.

We need your help to make it happen.

We need to raise $4,000 to create the banners. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation of any amount. If you’re interested in donating, or If you’d like to know more, please contact: Maplewoodartscouncil@gmail.com
